Restaurant Rata is a lunch and student restaurant located in the Hippos student quarter of Kaleva, Tampere. The restaurant offers a diverse and delicious lunch buffet where you can create your own healthy and tasty meal.
The buffet features three food options. Our Cozy concept offers two different choices of delicious and nutritious home-style cooking combined with global flavors. The Roots Vegan concept provides vegan plant-based dishes made from sustainable ingredients.
To reduce food waste, the selection during the last hour of operation might be more limited than usual. However, we guarantee that delicious food, including vegan options, will be available until closing time. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us collectively reduce waste.

At Juvenes staff restaurants, you can buy leftover lunch at a reduced price immediately after the lunch period ends. Student lunches can also be purchased to-go. We operate responsibly and encourage the use of customers’ own containers. You can find up-to-date price information at the restaurant.
You can offset the carbon footprint of your meal by donating a minimum of 5 cents to our Reforest partnership when making a lunch purchase. Juvenes donates 5 cents for each refund, and the donations are used in full for Reforest’s reforestation efforts.
